CLUB AWARDS
The Orangeville Curling Club has two awards that are given out yearly to exceptional volunteers that have gone “Over and Above”. Below are the descriptions for the two awards. Please consider nominating a fellow Member for one of these awards. Nominations will be recieved starting February 2024, email Grant Peters This email address is being protected from spambots. Hearder Award
PURPOSE: The Orangeville Curling Club may recognize the Exemplary Volunteerism of one of its Active Members by awarding that Member with the Hearder Award.
SCOPE: Chris Hearder, while a member of the Club and the Club Board of Directors, was a very hands on support to the OCC and worked on several projects at the OCC Facility.
ELIGIBLITY: To be eligible for this award the member nominated must be an exceptional volunteer and has gone beyond normal volunteer work for the club. A Board member is not eligible for this award.
NOMINATION: Any current adult member may nominate another member for the award by submitting a written nomination to a maximum of three pages to the Club President by February 31st of each year. In order for the Board to recommend a member for the Hearder Award the member must meet certain criteria:
1. The Member must be a member in good standing.
2. Demonstrate volunteerism in an area such as: a. Improvements and maintenance of the building facilities. b. Board Committee Involvement re facilities c. Fundraising work for building facilities.
Each nomination will be reviewed by an Awards Committee of the President, Past President and Vice President. The committee will be chaired by the President. The committee will ensure that each nomination meets the identified criteria and will then submit their recommendation to the Board for their approval. The Awards Committee and the Board of Directors will keep all information confidential. The Board will go "in camera" when considering the nominations. The President will notify the winning candidate personally and the nominator of other candidates will be notified.
BETTY McLaren AWARD
PURPOSE: The Orangeville Curling Club may recognize someone in the Club who goes “Over and Above “ as a member of the Orangeville Curling Club.
SCOPE: Betty McLaren was a member of the OCC who always went the extra mile and any activity she was involved in she always went Over and Above what was expected.
ELIGIBLITY: To be eligible for this award the member nominated must be an exceptional volunteer and who has gone beyond normal volunteer work for the club. A Board member is eligible for this award.

1. The Member must be a member in good standing.
2. Demonstrate exceptional volunteerism by going “ Over and Above” in an area such as: a. Food Committee b. Bonspiel Convenor c. Fundraising work d. Draw Master e. Coaching f. School liaison g. Maintaining the Website
